About
Canopy’s Warren County Children’s Shelter (WCCS) is an emergency shelter providing diagnostic/evaluation services for abused, neglected, runaway and homeless children and youth. The home-like refuge serves children and youth ages birth to 17 who are in Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) custody or who are in crisis and in need of an emergency shelter.

- Admissions available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Residents have access to the following services while at the WCCS:
- Medical, dental, vision and psychological care
- Crisis intervention
- Individual and group counseling
- Case management
- Behavior management
- Aftercare counseling services
- Educational and life skills
support - Recreational activities
Eligibility for Admission
- Children or youth under 21 who are at risk for out-of-home placement
- Engaging with community systems such as Juvenile Justice Systems or the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services
- Must be receiving benefits from Medicaid or MississippiCAN
- Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) diagnosis
- Child or youth must have prior mental health services within the past 90 days
Runaway Homeless Youth
Canopy’s Warren County Children’s Shelter (WCCS) offers a free, statewide program for adolescents ages 10 to 17 in partnership with the National Runaway and Homeless Youth Program.
