Early Intervention Therapy for Kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Canopy’s Autism Clinic offers an early intervention program for families with children 18 months to 8 years of age who have been diagnosed with ASD. The Early Intervention Autism Program is the first-of-its-kind in Mississippi using a tiered system delivering both clinic and community-based therapy. Our program utilizes techniques of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), which is considered an evidence-based “best practice” treatment for ASD by the U.S. Surgeon General and by the American Psychological Association. The program includes clinical therapy, school-based consultation, parent training, as well as comprehensive psycho-educational and behavioral assessments. Ultimately, the program is designed to help children on the autism spectrum achieve mental, physical, and emotional development.
Once a child is accepted into the Early Intervention Autism Program, he or she undergoes an initial evaluation to build an individualized tiered service plan (ITSP). This plan provides children ABA therapy that focuses on their individual needs, specific behaviors, and outcomes. The program requires a minimum of 18 months to complete.
