Canopy Children’s Solutions (Canopy) and its esteemed Board of Directors will host its “Celebration of Excellence,” at the new Canopy Center of Excellence, located at 1513 Lakeland Drive in Jackson.
The event is a celebration of milestones over the past year including the opening of the first Center of Excellence in the state.
“According to the National Council on Behavioral Health, a Center of Excellence focuses on ‘supporting resiliency, recovery, excellent outcomes and high patient satisfaction.’ Canopy already provides such care to the community and this Center will help to elevate that status in the healthcare community by streamlining comprehensive care to our families,” said Shea Hutchins, Chief Solutions Officer for Canopy.
At the event, Canopy will honor and thank partners, donors and advocates for the work they do in the community that helps advance Canopy’s mission and place Mississippi kids at the forefront. These honorees are presented with ‘Chrysalis Awards’ that signify the transformation that has taken place and the beautiful impact it has on our state and the welfare of children. The 2018 recipients are: Mississippi Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney; retired business executive and Canopy board member James “Red” Moffat; and Joel Smith, District Attorney for the Second Judicial District for Harrison, Hancock and Stone Counties. Mississippi’s First Lady Deborah Bryant will present the awards in conjunction with Canopy’s CEO Dr. John D. Damon.
“We have a lot to celebrate this year with the opening of the Center of Excellence and the strides we are making in expanding autism care. We are attracting a world-class workforce, and now have two doctoral level Johns Hopkins-trained clinicians who are attracting world-class partners like Microsoft. From autism to success with our community services, helping 97 percent of youth be able to remain in their homes following Child Protection Services’ intervention, we are transforming lives,” said Damon. “This is a great opportunity to allow our supporters and community to see first-hand the advancements we are making with integrated healthcare at our Center of Excellence.”
The Celebration of Excellence will take place on Thursday, November 1, 2018, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Attendees will have an opportunity to tour the new Center of Excellence, enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and help congratulate this year’s Chrysalis Award recipients. RSVPs should be made to RSVP@mycanopy.org or by calling 769-777-1028.
Media are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
