Cal-Maine Foods Presents Generous Donation to Statewide Children’s Nonprofit

Cal-Maine Foods, Inc., a Jackson-based egg marketer and producer announced a new partnership with Canopy Children’s Solutions with the donation of $100,000 to the organization.

“Cal-Maine Foods is very proud to support Canopy Children’s Solutions,” said Dolph Baker, chairman and chief executive officer of Cal-Maine Foods, Inc. “They have a long-standing history of providing vital solutions for the most vulnerable children in our community. We recognize the critical need to continue their mission and we are pleased that our gift will help make a difference through expanded programs and innovative treatment options for more families in Mississippi.”

The donation was made as part of a statewide initiative to infuse children’s social service organizations with private funding to heighten the quality and overall availability of social service and mental health solutions for children in the state. Currently, Canopy alone serves more than 5,000 children annually through the state’s largest nonprofit continuum of behavioral health, educational and social service solutions.

“The CDC estimates that 1 in 5 kids will experience a serious mental health challenge, that 1 in 59 will be diagnosed on the autism spectrum, that 1 in 12 kids suffers from substance abuse, and that we will lose one of our very own children each week here in Mississippi to suicide,” said Canopy CEO John D. Damon, Ph.D. “We are immeasurably grateful to have Cal-Maine Foods as a transformational partner. They see beyond these statistics and visualize the kids that these numbers represent. They want to step in and make a tangible difference. We are humbled to have them come alongside us to empower more kids to reach their full potential. Thanks to their generosity, the future of Mississippi’s children and families is brighter.”
