Canopy Children’s Solutions (Canopy) was selected as one of three charity finalists for the Brown Bottling Group Pick Your Charity Giveaway presented with Dr. Pepper and Canada Dry. The grand prize of $10,000 will be presented to the charity receiving the most votes by the event deadline at 11:59 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, August 8, 2018.
“We serve more than 5,000 kids throughout the state through a variety of programs in behavioral health, education and social services,” said John D. Damon, Ph.D., Canopy’s Chief Executive Officer. “We chose this opportunity to really focus on solutions for children on the autism spectrum because treatment options are greatly limited in the state and this opportunity can help change that.”
Today, 1 in 59 children is identified on the autism spectrum. Currently, there are fewer than 60 licensed providers of Applied Behavior Analysis therapy in the state. This type of therapy has the greatest evidence supporting its effectiveness with assisting children on the spectrum learn social, developmental, cognitive, behavioral and communicative skills.
“When you support Canopy, you actually support the transformation of children’s lives,” said Jim Moore, BCBA-D, Director of Autism Solutions for Canopy. “We are asking the community to vote, to share this with their friends and rally behind this effort because $10,000 can do a lot for our kids.”
