2023 Chrysalis Award Recipients

The annual Chrysalis Award is given to those transformational partners who come alongside Canopy to make space and opportunities for transformation. Partners who want to leverage over 575 dedicated and mission-driven employees to do something together that Canopy could never accomplish alone. Canopy was honored to present the 2023 Chrysalis Award to the Aspen Institute, Dr. Melissa Colangelo and Tony Colangelo, and Kathy and Randy Eure.

In response to the mental health crisis and inspired by the Aspen Institute’s Health Innovation Fellowship, Canopy Children’s Solutions, Get Well, and Learn to Live united to create Canopy Anywhere, a tech-enabled, holistic approach to whole-child wellness. Through proactive engagement and individualized care navigation, Canopy Anywhere provides youth and families with a comprehensive range of resources, from wellness and self-guided digital programs to critical crisis support. The Colangelo family’s support embodies Canopy’s core value that “relationships matter and our di!erences make us stronger.” Through Tony’s work at Minburn Technology Group with Microsoft Federal, and Canopy’s partnership with Microsoft, Tony became a lead sponsor of our annual Microsoft Rocks Events, expanding the event to The Barns at Wolf Trap in Washington, D.C. With a heartfelt commitment to children, their well-being and access to care, Tony and Melissa made an extraordinary announcement at the Butter#y Ball, pledging to personally match donations up to $250,000 that evening.

Grateful for Kathy Eure’s dedicated volunteerism, which began with the Women’s Auxiliary when we were Mississippi Children’s Home Society. Kathy has significantly contributed her time, talents and resources at CARES Center, notably by hosting joyful monthly birthday parties for the children. She introduced Randy to Canopy’s mission, and since joining the board in 2016, he has provided invaluable leadership as Finance Committee Chair and Treasurer. The Eures have been instrumental in raising awareness and funds for The Canopy School, making a lasting impact on our organization. Their sons, Brad and Bryan, surprised them on stage at Butterfly Ball.
