Participants will learn and discuss the important differences and similarities between children and youth who have been adopted and those who are being fostered. Participants will also review best practices for “helping professionals” and the adoptive and foster children and families they support. This session will be presented from both a professional and a personal perspective as the speaker is a licensed clinical social worker, while also being a foster and adoptive parent who has had to navigate both the clinical and cultural considerations on a daily basis.
