The holidays are the most joyous time of year at Canopy Children’s Solutions and thanks to the outpouring of support, 2020 in the midst of a pandemic, was no different. Thank you for allowing children to know the joy of the season, not just through gifts and toys, but through the spirit in which they were given. Through your generosity, children and families are reminded of hope, goodness and light.
Angelina came to the Canopy’s CARES Center to help her begin to heal from her pain and trauma. As the holidays approached, she was asked to fill out a Wish List of things she wanted for Christmas. In the back of her mind, she wondered why she should even bother. She had never gotten her Christmas wish before.
On Christmas morning, away from home, Angelina woke up to find smiling faces around a lit tree. There were large colorful bags with nametags scattered around the tree. As the bags were handed out one by one, her heart sank. She had been forgotten. Just then, a red bag with shiny green ribbon was pulled from behind the tree—with HER name on it! She hadn’t been forgotten, her Christmas wish came true thanks to the compassion and generosity of people like you. Her simple requests of a warm coat, colored pencils and art notebook were granted, but the greatest gift she received was HOPE—hope that things can always get better.
Because of the generosity of many, Angelina will have a Christmas full of lasting memories. Below is just a sampling of the generosity Canopy saw this holiday season.
