Community Resources Providing Grab and Go Lunches for Kids

While schools are closed, it may be more difficult for some children to gain access to regular meals. Below is a list of available resources statewide where grab and go meals and free breakfast and/or lunches are being made available for impacted students. Children must be in attendance and meals are limited to one per child under the age of 18. This should not be considered a comprehensive list as this is an evolving situation. Multi-locational Resources

Vowell’s in Starkville, Byram, Louisville, Forest, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Mendenhall and Noxapater will distribute free breakfast and lunch for students impacted by school closings. Breakfast will be distributed from 7 a.m. – 8 a.m. and lunch from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Limit one meal per child in attendance. Contact your local store for details.

Adams County

  • Natchez-Adams School District is providing meals for all children up to 18 (begins March 18). Meals can be picked up at Frazier Elementary, West Elementary, Morgantown Middle, Natchez High School, Broadmoor Community Center parking lot, Lagrange Community Center parking lot, New Hope Baptist Church parking lot, or Daughter of Zion Church parking lot.

Alcorn County

  • Alcorn School District will provide grab-and-go meals free for students while schools are out. Breakfast and lunch may be picked up together from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. each day. Meals may be picked up outside the cafeteria, without having to get out of your vehicle. If you are unable to pick up the meals, please notify the office at your school and they will try to have the meals delivered. The student must be present to receive the meal, per the Mississippi Department of Education.

Clarke County

  • Quitman School District will begin serving lunch on Thursday, March 19th for all children ages 0 – 18 years of age. Meals will be served on a first-come, first-served basis and quantities will be adjusted to fill the needs of the community’s children. Please respond to the survey using the AIM system to help district authorities adequately prepare the number of meals needed. There will be curbside, pick-up, and go service at the following locations and times:
    • Quitman High School Cafeteria 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
      (This will be drive-up pick up only. Cars need to stop in a line under the awning at the High School gym. Enter from the street between the Lower and High School. Exit out toward the old office.)
    • Bus #1 Quail Run Apartments 10:30 a.m. – 11:05 a.m.
      McKenzie Apartments 11:15 a.m. – 11:50 a.m.
      Piggly Wiggly 11:55 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Coahoma County

  • Clarksdale Municipal School District is helping ensure students have access to healthy and nutritious meals while schools are closed. CMSD will feed students up to age 18 at Clarksdale High School (1101 Wildcat Drive), W.A. Higgins Middle School (1749 Chestnut Street), Heidelberg Elementary School (801 Maple Avenue) beginning March 17. Breakfast can be picked up between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. and lunch between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact 662-627-8500.

DeSoto County

  • DeSoto County School District is serving grab and go meals for all children under age 18 beginning March 18. Pick up locations are at Horn Lake Intermediate, Southaven Intermediate and Chickasaw Elementary. Each child will receive lunch a breakfast at the time of pick up. Lunch is intended for immediate consumption and the breakfast is for the next morning. Meals are distributed Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-noon. Adult meals are $3 and require exact change.   • OB Donuts (4857 Goodman Rd, Olive Branch) will provide children who need breakfast while school is out a choice of 2 donuts or 1 dozen donut holes for free.
  • The Church United is partnering with the DeSoto County Schools’ grab and go meal program to offer evening and weekend meals with non-perishable food boxes to help children while schools are closed. Limit of one box per household per week and photo ID is required to participate. Drive-thru pick up is available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the following locations: Crosspointe Church (6400 Blocker Street, Olive Branch), Hunger 2 Hope (9105 Hwy 51 N) and DeSoto County Dream Center (6935 Windchase Drive, Horn Lake).

Forrest County

  • Hattiesburg Public Schools are offering free grab and go meals for students 18 and under beginning March 23. Meals are available from 10 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday at all HPSD schools EXCEPT Mary Bethune. Meals will include breakfast and lunch. Adult meals are available for purchase: $2.25 for breakfast and $3.75 for lunch.
  • Twillie Phillies is providing sack lunches between 11am-1pm located 2611 7th street, Hattiesburg
  • Salvation Army and Edward Street Fellowship are providing food boxes.
  • Christian Services will provide food boxes starting the week of March 23.

George County

  • George County School District will provide free meals beginning Wednesday, March 18, 2020. The meals will consist of a bag lunch and one snack item. Parents who wish to participate should call 601-947-4318 between 8-10 a.m. each day requesting a meal. Parents should be prepared to pick up meals at George County Middle School between 11 a.m. and noon. Please have children present when picking up meals. It will be a drive through service/grab and go. Parents will have no need to exit the vehicle. There will be no adult purchases offered. Meals will not be served on weekends or during Spring Break, which is March 23-27.

Grenada County

  • Grenada School District is serving grab and go meals March 17-20 at Grenada High School, Grenada Enrichment and Transition Center, Grenada Adult Education Center, Holcomb Community Center, and the Hankins/Willis Community Center. These meals are provided to all children ages 18 and under between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Meals will be distributed at the entrances but must be consumed off-site.

Hancock County

Diamondhead

  • Uncle Joe’s Pizza and Wings, located at 16829 Kapalama Drive, will give a slice of pizza and a brownie to all children between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Monday through Friday, to help anyone in need while school is out.
  • Backpack Buddies is partnering with the Pascagoula-Gautier School District to bring food to children while they are out of school. School nurses and teachers are working with volunteers to identify and distribute food to children who have been identified as being in need. If your child attends school in PGSD and is in need of meals, please contact the district office to request food.

Harrison County

Pass Christian

  • Savory Roots, located at 6340 Kiln-Delisle Road, will allow children to eat free from their kid’s menu from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. through March 20. No purchase is necessary. They will also a 20% discount to all school staff who have proof of employment.

Hinds County

Jackson

  • Jackson Public Schools will serve grab and go breakfast and lunches during school closures. Children under 18 will be allowed to pick up meals between 9-11 a.m. each day march 16-20 and March 23-27 at the following locations Boyd Elementary, North Jackson Elementary, Spann Elementary, Blackburn Middle, Galloway Elementary, Lake Elementary, Raines Elementary, Smith Elementary, Marshall Elementary, Peeple Middle, Whitten Middle, Wilkins Elementary.
  •  Village Kitchen is offering free lunch beginning March 16

Holmes County

  • Holmes County School District is delivering breakfast and lunch to all school bus stops in the area. Students are asked to be at bus stops between 7:30 and 9 a.m. for breakfast, and between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. for lunch.

Humphreys County

  • Beginning March 17, the following locations will offer grab and go lunches: O.M. McNair cafeteria (11:30-12:30), Isola Mulitpurpose Building (11:30-12:30), Silver City Voting Precinct Beat 3 (11:30-12:30), Calvary Baptist Church in Midnight (11:30-12:30) and Louise Voting Precinct Beat 5 (11:45-12:30). All children 18 and under eat free.

Issaquena County

  • South Delta School District is offering grab and go bags for breakfast and lunch beginning March 17, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Feeding sites include: South Delta Middle School and South Delta Elementary.Note these will not be hot meals.
  • Cary Christian Center and Mayersville Town Hall will offer grab and go meals from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Jackson County

Ocean Springs

  • Non-perishable food donations are being accepted Downtown Ocean Springs Nutrition from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, as well as to Mosaic Church, St. Paul United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church, and Ocean Springs Education Foundation. Non-perishable food donations are being accepted at Downtown Ocean Springs Nutrition, Mosaic Church, St. Paul United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church, and Ocean Springs Education Foundation.

Gulfport

  • Volunteers are also distributing 300 meals every day this week at these locations: Emerald Pines Apartments, Forest Heights Boys & Girls Club and Morning Star Baptist Church.
  • Extend a Hand, Help a Friend and Climb CDC will serve 350 meals a day to children and those without transportation. Meals will be passed out at the Climb CDC Resource Center, located at 5001 Old Pass Road, from noon to 1 p.m.
  • Gulfport School District will provide meals to students while schools are closed beginning Thursday. Students can come to Gulfport Central Middle School, Central Elementary School, Gulfport High, and Pass Road Elementary School for a free meal. Breakfast at 8 a.m. Lunch at noon. Buses will also go through some neighborhoods distributing meals. Certain special needs students will have meals delivered.

  • Lafayette County School District is providing pickup locations for grab and go food beginning March 19 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the following locations: Abbeville Baptist Church, Harmontown Fire Dept., Paris Fire Dept., Philadelphia Fire Dept., Denmark Store, Taylor Grocery parking lot, Anchor Baptist Church, New Prospect Baptist Church in Yocona and Lafayette High School parking lot. Oxford

  • Oxford Learning Center will provide free meals on weekdays from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM for ALL children (18 years of age and under.) Adults can also purchase meals for $2. Students do not need to enter a building for pick up. Families should look for an OSD school bus in the parking lot at each location. Pick up is from 9 a.m. to noon at the following locations: Oxford Middle School (22 Bramlett Boulevard), CB Webb Townhomes (900 Molly Barr Road), Brittany Woods Subdivision (Hwy 6), Wayne Johnson Apartment (2223 Delores Drive), Western Hills Area (Near Anchorage Road), Oasis Church (861 MS-6 West) *These locations are subject to change.*
  • Oxford School District will provide grab-and-go meals in various locations across the district starting Tuesday, March 17, from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Meals will be available for all children, not just OSD students.

Lamar County

  • Lamar County School District will begin providing drive-thru meal service beginning March 25. All children 18 and under in the car will receive a free breakfast and lunch free of charge. Meal pick up will be available from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the following locations: Baxterville, Longleaf Elementary, Lumberton, Oak Grove Primary, Purvis High School and Sumrall high School.

  • The Tupelo/Lee County Hunger Coalition will provide free meals for children this week to students 18 years old or younger from Tuesday, March 17, through Friday, March 20, at these locations and times:
    • 11 a.m. – Chandler’s Temple CME Church – 114 Holloway Avenue, Verona
    • 12 p.m. – Boys & Girls Club N. Green Street
    • 12:30 p.m. – Boys & Girls Club Haven Acres
    • Lunches will be delivered to Tupelo Trace Apartments on Tuesday, March 17th and Wednesday, March 18 at 12 p.m.
    • Lunches will be available at Sycamore Church on Wednesday, March 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for students who receive free or reduced lunch.
  • Guntown Middle School food pantry will be open on Wednesday, March 18, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. to assist GMS students, families and anyone in the community who is in need of food or supplies. Contact Vanessa Washington at washington@leecountyschools.usfor more information.
  • Tupelo Public School District and Lee County School District are working to provide grab-and-go meals to students if school closures are extended further than March 20.

Leflore County

  • Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School District is sponsoring an adjusted summer food service program between March 16 and march 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pickup sites are as follows: Amanda Elzy High, Bankston Elementary, Claudine Brown Elementary, Davis Elementary, East Elementary, Greenwood Middle, Leflore County High, Threadgill Elementary and Threadgill Primary. Lincoln County

  • Brookhaven School District will provide “Grab-n-Go” lunches at Lipsey School and Mullins school from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each weekday starting March 23 if schools are still out. Children must be present in the vehicle to receive a lunch. Children do not have to be a student of the Brookhaven School District, but must be 18 years old or younger.

Lowndes County

  • Columbus Municipal School District – The following community centers will have 100 breakfast and 100 lunch meals available at 9:00 am daily for students 18 and under for free.
    • MLK – 1501 MLK Drive
    • Jesse Carter (Across from Boys and Girls Club) – 1711 12th Ave North
    • William Washington (Next to Coleman Head start) -2201 8th Ave South
    • William Roberts (Robert Terrace) – 247 William Roberts Rd

  • Loaves & Fishes – Loaves & Fishes will be providing sack lunches for all ages to go at 223 22nd St. Columbus at the following times:
    • Monday – 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
    • Thursday – 11:30 a.m. -1 p.m.
    • Friday – 11:30 a.m. -1 p.m.

Madison County

  • Madison County Schools are offering meals via curbside and walk-up service at East Flora Elementary, Camden Elementary and Ann Smith Elementary schools on weekdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meals for children are free regardless of where they go to school. Adults may also purchase a meal for $3.75.

Marshall County

  • Marshall County School District will be serving drive-thru GRAB AND GO meals beginning Thursday, March 19th until further notice. ALL children 18 and under will eat FREE. Children do not have to be a Marshall County student to participate. Per Federal regulations, children must be present to claim their meal. Meals will be distributed from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations: Byhalia High School, Galena School, H W Byers School, Potts Camp High School. Children will not need to leave the vehicle. Each child will receive a lunch and breakfast during of pick up. The lunch is intended for immediate consumption and the breakfast is intended for consumption the following day.
  • Holly Springs School District will offer a community feeding for any citizen from Ages 0-18 years of age. The district has collaborated with the City of Holly Springs and will use the Jesse Jackson Community Center (Old Intermediate School Gymnasium) on Valley Street as the center of the feeding program. Times for the feeding are as follows 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the Jesse Jackson Community Center. The district will also have sites where students and citizens can pick up bagged lunches from bus deliveries at the Holly Estates/College St. Complexes from 11 a.m.-11:15 a.m., the Church Court/Chesterman Housing Complexes from 11:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m., and the Springs Garden Housing Complex from noon to 12:15 p.m.

  • Rankin County School District is serving grab and go meals at McLaurin Elementary, Highland Bluff Elementary, Richland Upper Elementary and Pelahatchie Elementary. All children 18 and under will receive a free meal, even if they are not a student in Rankin County. Adults may purchase a meal for $3.50. Meals will be served between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
  • Pearl Public School District is providing grab-and-go meals at Pearl Lower Elementary from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. All children 18 and under will eat FREE. Children must be present to claim their meal. They do not have to be a PPSD student. Adult meals will be $3.50 – cash only. First Responders in uniform will also eat free.

  • South Delta School District is offering grab and go bags for breakfast and lunch beginning March 17, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Feeding sites include: South Delta Middle School and South Delta Elementary.Note these will not be hot meals.

  • Simpson County School District is offering drive-thru grab and go meals Monday – Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Meals are free to all children 18 and under and must be present to redeem. Breakfast and lunch pickup is available at Magee Elementary, Mendenhall Elementary and Simpson Central School.

Sunflower County

  • Sunflower Consolidated School District will begin providing free lunches to school-aged children (18 and under) from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. at Drew Middle School, Thomas E. Edwards, Sr., East Sunflower, Moorhead Central, Inverness Elementary, Carver Elementary and Gentry High School.
  • Mission Ministries from Oak Grove, New Jerusalem, and Mt. Buelah will be providing free sack lunches March 18-20 in the parking lot of New Jerusalem MB Church (1003 Airport Road in Indianola) from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. each day.
  • Chapman Grill (108 Martin Luther King Street, Sunflower) will be distributed free sack lunches to students ages 2-18 from Sunflower County Consolidated Schools from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the week of March 16-20.

Tallahatchie County

  • East Tallahatchie School District is offering free grab and go breakfast and lunch. Meals will be provided at Charleston Elementary School, Charleston Middle School and Charleston High School at the cafeteria. Meals are available for students ages 18 and under. Breakfast is available from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 am.m and lunch between 12:30 p.m. ad 1:30 p.m. For transportation needs, please call 662-625-0087.

Tate County

  • Tate County School District is providing free grab and go meals for all children 18 and under. Meals begin March 18, and children must be present to redeem. Distributions will take place at the following locations between 10 a.m. and noon Monday through Friday: Coldwater Elementary (cafeteria dock), East Tate Elementary (Cafeteria Side Doors, Bus Line), Strayhorn Elementary (Cafeteria End Door, Afternoon Car-Rider line).

Tippah County

  • South Tippah School District will provide grab-and-go meals at the Ripley Elementary School cafeteria for free to anyone 18 years old and younger on Wednesday, March 18, and Thursday, March 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • First Baptist Church in Ripley will prepare 625 sack lunches on March 16 and 17 for pickup at the Family Life Center between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Families who need lunches for the entire week can pick them up from 5 to 7 p.m. on those days.

Tishomingo County

  • Tishomingo County School District will be participating in the FREE Grab n’ Go Breakfast/Lunch Program. This program will serve all children ages 18 and under and will provide breakfast and lunch within each pack. Meals may be picked up between       9 a.m.-11 a.m. at the following designated locations: Belmont Elementary, Tishomingo Elementary, Iuka Elementary and Burnsville Elementary.

Tunica County

  • Tunica County School District will be serving pickup and go meals beginning March 18 until further notice. All children 18 and under will be able to eat for free. Meal distribution will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Tunica Middle School cafeteria driveway (2486 US Highway 61). Children must be in attendance. Students will receive a bag for lunch and breakfast. Adult meals may be purchased for $3.75. For questions, please call 662-541-5108.

Union County

  • First Baptist Church in New Albany will prepare 500 sack lunches Monday through Friday and distribute from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to any child in the elementary, middle or high school in New Albany. The lunches will be free and can be picked up at the Family Life Center, located behind First Baptist Church and the Union County Courthouse on Main Street.

  • Vicksburg Warren School District will deliver free meals to children 18 and under (begins March 18). Meals can be picked up at bus stops between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Click here to see the list of bus stops. Parents of children who do not normally ride a bus can sign up here.

Washington County

  • Greenville Public School District is providing grab and go lunches March 17-20 to children 18 and under at the following schools: Armstrong, Boyd, Webb and Weddington between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • Hollandale School District is providing meal delivery to students 18 and under along school bus routes. All students may access meals by meeting buses at any of the following sites: First Baptist Church in Hollandale, Mississippi Adult Day Care in Arcola, Mt. Zion Church in Darlove. Children must be present to receive meals. Breakfast is served between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Lunch will be istributed between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Curbside pick up is available at Simmons High School during the same times.

  • Webster County School District is offering drive-thru or curbside pick up meals beginning March 19. Pick up locations are at Eurpora Elementary School (1 Naron Street in Eurpora) and East Webster Elementary School (230 South Street in Mathiston).Breakfast and lunch will be provided to students and children 18 and under between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Adults may purchase breakfast/lunch combos for $5 each with exact change. Yalobusha County

  • Coffeeville School District will provide grab and go lunches beginning March 17 through March 23, from 11 a.m. to noon at Coffeeville Elementary School. Meals are available for all students 18 and under. Lunches must be consumed off-site. Menus for the week can be found on the CSD website and on social media.
  • Water Valley School District will be delivering free meals to all children 18 and under along their regular bus routes. Students should stand at their normal pick up locations 4 hours later than they are normally picked up by the bus (example, if your child’s normal pick up time is 6:30 a.m. they should be outside waiting at 10:30 a.m.). children must be present to claim their meals. Bus delivery will take place on Mondays and Wednedays starting on March 23. Monday deliveries will provide breakfast and lunch for Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday deliveries will include meals for Wednesday through Friday. Families (with children present) may also pick up meals between 10 a.m. and noon on Mondays and Wednesdays at Water Valley High School.

Yazoo County

  • Beginning March 17, the following locations will offer grab and go lunches: McCoy Elementary (11:30-12:30) and Woolfolk Middle School (11:30-12:30). All children 18 and under eat free.
