Director of Nursing and Program Director of Canopy Children’s Solution’s CARES Center

Kim Jordan serves dual roles within Canopy Children’s Solutions as the Director of Nursing, and as of May 2019, was named Program Director for the CARES Center psychiatric residential treatment facility in Jackson. In the role of Program Director, Kim oversees day-to-day operations of the facility, which encompasses two campuses and serves a total of 60 children at a time ages six to 17. She works alongside other CARES Center leaders and supervisors to develop programming, address challenges, and ensure the children of the CARES Center are receiving care that is outlined in best-practices and is meaningful for each individual child served.

Kim joined Canopy in June 2017 as the Director of Nursing where she managed nursing for Canopy’s CARES Center. Prior to joining the organization, Kim was a full-time emergency room nurse for more than a decade. She accredits this experience with equipping her with critical thinking and organizational skills and the ability to be flexible in serving needs as they arise.

An alumna of Mississippi College, Kim received her Bachelor of Nursing degree in 2004. Prior to leaving emergency medicine, she attained Board Certification in Emergency Medicine. Most recently, Kim completed her master’s in Healthcare Administration from Mississippi College in 2018.

Kim was born and raised in Brookhaven, where she and her family of four reside today. Away from work, she enjoys using her organizational skills to plans adventures and travel.

Christy Ainsworth, LCSW

CARES Center Clinical Director

Christy Ainsworth serves as the Clinical Director of Canopy Children’s Solutions’ CARES Center psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF). In her role, she works with clinical staff at the CARES Center and CARES School Jackson to facilitate clinical programming and therapeutic solutions the meet the individual needs of the children in those programs. She also provides clinical supervision to therapists working collaboratively to help youth at the PRTF and CARES School to meet their academic and behavioral/therapeutic goals.

Christy joined the Canopy team in July 2019. She has particular expertise in trauma therapy and post-crisis mediation. Prior to accepting her role with Canopy, Christy worked in a variety of advocacy and crisis intervention centers in Mississippi that focused on child and mostly female victims of trauma and violence. Throughout her career, she has also worked in a hospital setting as a medical social worker as well as a clinical therapist for behavioral health facilities.

Christy is an alumna of the University of Southern Mississippi where she earned her bachelor and master’s degrees in social work. She holds a certification as a licensed clinical social worker and is also certified in the Batterer’s Intervention & Lethality Assessment.

Spending much her of her adult life between Mississippi and Alabama, Christy is now a resident of Madison, Miss. She and her husband Edward spend a lot of time traveling, but equally enjoy showering their hound dog Lulu Pattycakes with love and affection at home.
