CARES Psychiatric Residential Treatment

24-Hour, Intensive Psychiatric Care for Children

During times of crisis, a child’s need for psychiatric care may exceed the resources of the community. As a result, intensive 24 hour care may be required to ensure safety. CARES Center was developed specifically for these families.

We provide our children with a therapeutic residential environment where they gain understanding and learn to manage their challenges. After completing treatment, most children leave the CARES Center to return to their home with a comprehensive discharge and aftercare plan.

Transforming the lives of nearly 200 children each year, CARES Center is Mississippi’s first non-public psychiatric residential treatment center for children with severe emotional or behavioral disturbances.

While at CARES Center, each child participates on a multidisciplinary child and family team. Each member plays an integral role in achieving the goals of the child’s treatment plan. Teams include:

  • Case Managers
  • Psychiatrists
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners
  • Family Therapists
  • Registered Nurses

Located in Jackson, the 60-bed facility provides services for ages 6 – 17. Comprehensive services include intensive individual, group, and family therapy as well as medical services, therapeutic recreation, education services, and social skills training.
