The 5K4Kid Canopy Care Run, held on September 22, was a tremendous success thanks to a host of terrific sponsors and partners including Sisu Race Timing and our presenting sponsor Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company.
In total, nearly 100 runners and walkers ranging in age from 5 to 71 participated in the 5K event. There were also a number of junior participants who laced up their sneakers for the Tot Trot and Kids Fun Run.
Overall male and female winners of the 5K Run were Tim Weland completing the course in 21 minutes, 52.8 seconds and Teresa Crothers finishing in 23 minutes, 22.1 seconds.
A complete list of winners and completion times can be found on the Sisu website.
The 5K4Kids event was a tremendous effort made possible thanks to a cast of more than 20 volunteers from St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, Northwest Rankin High School, Jackson Preparatory School, Canopy Youth Council, numerous Canopy staff and wonderful members of the local community. We would also like to acknowledge Kroger Delta Division and Dunkin Donuts in Pearl, for providing race refreshments for everyone who came out! Our youngest participants had a great time thanks to Rankin Party and Tent Rental, Massage Envy, and Magnolia Health who participated in our 5K4Kids Fun Zone.
Thank you all for helping make this event a success!
Special thanks also goes to the Ridgeland Police Department for their help in keeping our runners safe along the course and to Colonial Heights Baptist Church for allowing us to use their outdoor facility.
We look forward to continuing this event in years to come and helping to encourage mental and physical health among Mississippi children and families.
