The 5K4Kid Canopy Care Run, held on September 23, was a tremendous success thanks to a host of terrific sponsors and partners including Sisu Race Timing.

In total, more than 125 runners and walkers ranging in age from 8 to 83 participated in the 5K event, with another 12 participating in the Tot Trot and 1 Mile Fun Run.

Overall male and female winners of the 5K Run were Daniel Caddigan completing the course in 17 minutes, 12.3 seconds and Teresa Crothers finishing in 22 minutes, 11.9 seconds.

Overall male and female winners of the 5K Walk were Rod Simmons crossing the finish line at 38 minutes, 8.4 seconds and Sandra Davis finishing in a time of 44 minutes, 39 seconds.

The 5K4Kids event was a tremendous effort made possible thanks to a cast of more than 40 volunteers from Murrah High School’s National Honor Society, C Spire, Mutual of AmericaSt. Andrew’s Episcopal School, Canopy Auxiliary, numerous Canopy staff and wonderful members of the local community. We would also like to acknowledge Launch Trampoline Park and Dunkin Donuts, both in Pearl, for providing race refreshments for everyone who came out! Thank you all for helping make this event a success!

Special thanks also goes to the Ridgeland Police Department for helping to keep our runners safe along the course as well as Pafford EMS serving Madison County for being on site.

We look forward to continuing this event in years to come and helping to encourage mental and physical health among Mississippi children and families.
